Getting started

How care begins here, before any treatment is on the table.

No referral is required. No consultation is required to book, either. Dr. Heather Volpp, MD reviews every patient’s health profile and will let you know if a consultation is recommended before your first treatment. A $150 phone consultation is available on request — credited toward your first EBOO treatment. If you’re already working with a primary physician or specialist, we coordinate alongside that care rather than replacing it.

Request an appointment through the form on our Schedule page, or call (760) 450-4602. Tell us a little about what you’re dealing with and we’ll match you with the right first step — no commitment, no pressure. We typically respond within one business day.

A consultation is optional, not required, and booking is direct. Whether or not you book one, Dr. Heather Volpp reviews your complete health history, symptoms, labs, and goals before any EBOO session, and every protocol is physician-designed for your biology.

15 to 30 minutes · Phone or in-clinic · $150, credited toward your first EBOO session.

Yes. The $150 phone consultation fee credits toward your first EBOO treatment.

You do not need to choose a therapy on your own, and you do not need a consultation to begin. Booking is direct. Dr. Volpp reviews every patient’s health history and symptoms before any EBOO session and recommends the right path, whether that is EBOO, the HOCATT ozone sauna, diagnostics such as the PULS cardiac test, or a combination. Not every therapy is appropriate for every patient, and she will tell you directly if something isn’t a fit. If you would like to talk it through first, an optional 15 to 30 minute phone or in person consultation is available for $150, credited toward your first EBOO session.

Medical ozone — the basics

What it is, what it isn’t, and how the therapies differ.

Medical ozone is a therapeutic form of medical-grade ozone — distinct from atmospheric pollution. It has been used in clinical practice for over a century, with a well-documented safety profile and an extensive body of peer-reviewed research.

Ozone (O₃) is a highly reactive molecule. When introduced to the body at precise, controlled concentrations, it triggers your antioxidant defense systems — the same systems activated by exercise, heat, and cold exposure. Read the full explanation on Medical Ozone.

No. Medical ozone is pharmaceutical-grade O₃ generated from pure oxygen at precise concentrations — measured in micrograms per milliliter. This is fundamentally different from atmospheric ozone pollution, which contains contaminants and occurs at uncontrolled concentrations.

No. Medical ozone therapies — including EBOO and the HOCATT™ ozone sauna — are not FDA-approved as treatments for any specific condition. Medical ozone has a long history of clinical use in Europe and is studied in peer-reviewed literature, but it falls outside standard FDA approval pathways as a therapy.

At SynergyO3, these therapies are offered as adjunctive support — meaning they work alongside, not in place of, evidence-based medical care. Dr. Volpp is transparent about this distinction with every patient.

No. Ozone is never inhaled at SynergyO3. In the HOCATT™ sauna, ozone is absorbed transdermally through your skin inside the sealed chamber — your head stays outside and you breathe normal room air, often with supplemental oxygen. In EBOO, ozone is introduced into your blood inside a sterile, single-use circuit outside the body.

SynergyO3 offers several ozone-based approaches — EBOO, transdermal ozone (the HOCATT™ sauna), Major Autohemotherapy (10-pass), and prolozone injections — each working through the body differently. EBOO is the most comprehensive, continuously filtering and re-oxygenating a larger blood volume than a single draw allows. Not sure which fits your goals? Our Compare Ozone Treatments page lays out the differences side-by-side.

EBOO ozone therapy

The questions patients ask most before their first session.

Nothing about EBOO is dramatic — it starts with two small needle placements (about like a standard blood draw), then you simply recline and relax for roughly an hour while your blood is filtered and returned. Most patients read, nap, or just decompress. How you feel afterward is individual: some notice more energy or mental clarity, others feel ready for a quiet rest of the day. Full session details are on the EBOO Ozone Therapy page.

Visit length depends on the treatment. EBOO sessions run about an hour of treatment (75–90 minutes total with intake); HOCATT™ sessions run about 30 minutes of treatment (45–60 minutes total with intake). See each treatment’s FAQ page for full session details.

It varies by person and goal. Dr. Volpp reviews your health history and symptoms before your first session and recommends a protocol; many patients choose a 3- or 5-session package.

Yes. EBOO may help complement your existing medical care and treatments when used appropriately. As with every therapy at SynergyO3, EBOO is offered as an adjunctive treatment to support your ongoing care, not as a substitute for it. See “Does this replace my current doctor?” for our general approach. EBOO has not been proven to cure, treat, or prevent any disease. Before considering EBOO, consult with Dr. Volpp to ensure it’s appropriate for your individual health circumstances. Dr. Volpp reviews your current medications and treatments before every session to coordinate safely alongside your primary and specialist physicians.Yes. As with every therapy at SynergyO3, EBOO is offered as adjunctive support alongside your existing care, not a substitute for it — see “Does this replace my current doctor?” above for our general approach. For EBOO specifically, Dr. Volpp reviews your current medications and treatments before every session so she can coordinate safely alongside your primary and specialist physicians.

HOCATT™ ozone sauna

What a 30-minute session actually involves.

This is a common question before any spa-style treatment, and the short answer is: privacy is fully respected. You’ll change beforehand in a private space and are draped with a towel throughout — only your body sits inside the HOCATT™ chamber, while your head stays outside in fresh air for the full session.

Think comfortable sauna, not medical procedure — gentle steam and warmth throughout. Patients generally leave feeling relaxed and clear-headed, though it’s normal to feel tired instead and want to rest; everyone responds a little differently.

It depends on your goals. Dr. Volpp reviews your health history and recommends a cadence before your first session; many patients choose the 10-session package for ongoing protocols.

Safety & contraindications

Who these therapies aren’t for. We’d rather tell you before you book.

Yes. EBOO isn’t appropriate for everyone. Contraindications include pregnancy or breastfeeding, G6PD deficiency (favism), active bleeding disorders or anticoagulant therapy, recent heart attack or stroke, and uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. If you have any of these conditions, Dr. Volpp will discuss this with you during your consultation and, where appropriate, suggest alternative treatment options that may better serve your health needs. A thorough review of your medical history and current medications is required before any EBOO treatment to ensure your safety.Yes. EBOO isn’t right for everyone. Contraindications include pregnancy or breastfeeding, G6PD deficiency (favism), active bleeding disorders or anticoagulant therapy, recent heart attack or stroke, and uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. If you have one, Dr. Volpp will tell you directly and, where appropriate, suggest a safer alternative. A review of your history is required before any treatment.

Yes — as with our other ozone therapies, HOCATT™ isn’t right for everyone. It may need to be modified or avoided for pregnancy, certain cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, or heat intolerance. Dr. Volpp reviews your full health history before recommending it, and will suggest an alternative if HOCATT isn’t the right fit.

HOCATT™ is built around a head-out chamber design specifically so you never inhale ozone — you breathe clean, supplemental oxygen the entire time while your head stays outside. A trained provider is present throughout and can pause or stop the session at any point, and every patient is screened by Dr. Volpp for contraindications beforehand.

Yes — always, including over-the-counter supplements. Share your medications and current treatments with Dr. Volpp so she can coordinate safely, and continue seeing your primary and specialist physicians. Some medications, such as anticoagulant therapy, are a contraindication for EBOO.

There is an established prep and aftercare protocol, and it varies by treatment. Dr. Volpp gives you the guidance specific to your protocol before your visit, and again afterward, so you’re never guessing.

After an EBOO session that includes hydration and the cadence of any follow-up sessions. Some patients report a lift in energy; others feel tired and simply need rest and hydration — both are normal, and responses vary from person to person.

Aesthetics & skin

Injectables, lasers, and RF microneedling — timelines and who performs them.

Liz Lee RN performs and oversees the aesthetic treatments at SynergyO3 — Dysport®, Restylane® Kysse, Genius™ RF microneedling, and the Lutronic laser platforms. Injections are never delegated.

Plan for a 60–90 minute appointment, including 30–45 minutes for topical numbing. Post-treatment skin appears pink and slightly textured for 2–4 days. Collagen remodeling is gradual — peak results are typically seen at 6–12 months, and many patients see continued improvement for up to 12 months after a final treatment. Individual results vary.

60–90 min appointment · 3–5 days downtime · 6–12 months to peak results

Results usually emerge over 3–5 days as the neuromuscular block establishes — some patients see an effect in as little as 2–3 days. Full effect is typically visible by day 14, with results lasting 3–4 months for most patients. As acetylcholine signaling gradually recovers, muscle activity returns to baseline. Individual results vary.

Results are visible immediately after injection. Some swelling is normal in the first 24–48 hours; the final result is assessed at the 2-week follow-up. Hyaluronic acid is naturally metabolized over 9–12 months, so volume diminishes gradually — you can maintain, adjust, or discontinue at your own pace.

Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) is FDA-approved for glabellar lines and has a well-established 20+ year safety profile in clinical use. This is a different regulatory category from our ozone therapies, which are not FDA-approved. Liz Lee RN will explain exactly what is being used, and at what dose, before treatment.
